The W220 may have not been regarded as the best S-Class by some, but like any S-Class it was still the best car in the world at the time and was light years ahead of anything else. I’ve had quite a few W220’s and W215’s over the last few years and as I’ve grown to understand them, they never cease to impress. You have to remember the S-Class in general were and still are the default car of the rich and famous so had to be good to retain that loyal but affluent customer base, and a good W220 or W215 CL will certainly not disappoint, believe me. These are an engineering "Tour de Force" so every journey is an occasion. I’ve done may long trips in W220 and they’re just sublime, it’s like travelling first class. Owned for almost a quarter of a century by a wealthy North London property developer, at just 14K miles, this S320L still has the look and feel (and smell) of a new car. If you consider this car cost around £60,000 when new 25 years ago, which is the equivalent of £115,000 in today’s money, you’ll soon realise these were something very special, and were a car few people will have had the opportunity to own and experience or even ride in. Like any S-Class, the W220 will become a classic, but at the moment I think they’re the bargain of the century and can best be described as a Champagne car for lemonade money, and its ultra low mileage examples like this that impress the most. You can travel like a billionaire plutocrat for the price of a second-hand Fiesta. THE MTSV DIFFERENCE Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
