It’s also rare in that it was a significant improvement over its predecessor; the W210, which was a good car, but did have many foibles, the main being its propensity to corrode. This particular W211 is among the last of this incarnation of the E-Class, and a last of the line special edition “Executive SE Edition” model. Being a late facelift car, it doesn’t suffer any of the well documented problems of the earlier (pre 2006) cars, the most significant of them being the SBC braking system; SBC was finally dropped from the W211 on the event of the post September 2006 (MY2007) and a more reliable system used. Also the event of that facelift saw build quality of the model significantly improve too, so these last of the line models are a real gem, with quality dare I say it similar to the legendary W124 This car belonged to a customer of mine, a local solicitor whose father bought it brand new from Mercedes-Benz of Bradford in 2009 for the not insignificant sum of £32,000 (original purchase invoice included) however, due to another car on the drive, and having been given his father’s Porsche, he reluctantly let it go, so I first acquired it in November 2024. I subsequently sold it in March 2025 to a Mercedes Club director who used this W211 regularly but sparingly. He also took it to shows and club events and he also entered it into a couple of club concours, where it did rather well, however due to retirement and also has the car wasn’t getting used enough, he very reluctantly, after several changes of mind, eventually let it go. I didn’t need to be asked twice if I wanted to buy it back and collected it very quickly so he didn’t change his mind! The car has now covered a mere 71,000 miles and is one of those rare vehicles that has been looked after properly throughout its entire life, initially by the supplying dealer, then a specialist. It comes with a stack of paperwork to substantiate that, in fact its one of the most complete histories you could hope for. It’s also just had the all-important oil cooler and seals replaced by a respected Mercedes specialist. On the OM642 V6 this is a rather involved 8 hour job. So if you’re looking for a proper Mercedes with that old school feel, but with modern refinements and features, a late model W211 is a very intelligent buy right now, and these last of the line models are the ones to go for. Also this E280CDI comes with the superb OM642 V6, making it supremely smooth, very quick, but still returns excellent fuel economy. It’s a car that still oozes class in an understated way, but one that will happily rip of your face if you want it too. Most modern cars seem promise much but deliver little. In stark contrast, the W211 does exactly the opposite to that. THE MTSV DIFFERENCE Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true car enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people. Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds. All major debit/ credit cards accepted
